US Bus Utah's double decker bus was born in 1988 in the Leyland factory in Lancashire County England, where British buses and lorries have been made for over a century. The bus spent the first years of its life carrying locals and tourists through the bustling streets of London, Brighton, South Hampton, and several other cities and towns.
In April 2016 Jerry Dolejs owner of US Bus Utah went to England and met up with Mike Daly, a "Brit" who matched Jerry up with this darling Double Decker. After a long ocean voyage across the Atlantic, Jerry and Mike drove the bus across the country 2200 miles finally arriving in Salt Lake City on June 10th, 2016.
Going immediately to work, Jerry renovated the bus, giving it a new lease on life halfway around the world from its original home. Wrapped on both sides with images of well-known sites and landmarks from Salt Lake City, such as Temple Square, a Skier, The Hogle Zoo and This is the Place State Park among others this bus now runs 3-4 times per day through the streets of Salt Lake City carrying tourists and locals on a 90 minute sightseeing tour. It's also available for charter for private groups.
Rules: We welcome food and drink aboard the bus. However, we ask that you sit on the top level while eating and drinking since it is much easier to clean spills from the vinyl seats. Smoking is not allowed on the bus. We also ask you to stay seated while the bus is moving and avoiding damaging the seats or any other part of the bus as we do have to hold you liable for any damage you cause personally to the bus. The bus can seat a maximum of 45 people on the top level and 23 on the bottom.
The event is put on by SLCircle.
